Ancaster Mill Wedding Photography

Wide chapel view of a wedding ceremony beneath chandeliers and dark timber beams at Ancaster Mill.

Miffy and Rawle’s Ancaster Mill wedding photography tells the story of a warm, sunny May celebration filled with family, meaningful traditions, beautiful spring scenery and an incredible amount of joy.

Their wedding took place on May 28, 2026, and from the first moments of the morning it was clear how loved they both are. Miffy and Rawle got ready separately, surrounded by their closest family and friends, before meeting for a heartwarming first look at Ancaster Mill. The day continued with wedding party portraits, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, an intimate chapel ceremony, family photographs, portraits around the grounds and a reception that became more energetic as the evening went on.

What made this wedding especially beautiful to photograph was the balance between carefully planned traditions and all the small, unscripted moments happening around them.

Getting Ready With Family and Friends

Miffy spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids and family in a nearby house.

There was so much happening around her: hair and makeup finishing, dresses being adjusted, flowers arriving, family members coming in and out of the room and bridesmaids making sure that every last detail was perfect.

Some of my favourite photographs from the morning are the quiet moments between those preparations. A hand fixing the back of Miffy’s dress, friends standing around her, a hug from someone she loves, and the expressions on her family’s faces as they saw her completely ready for the first time

Miffy looked incredibly elegant in her wedding dress, paired with a soft spring bouquet in blush, peach and cream tones. Her bridesmaids wore pale pink dresses that later looked beautiful against the fresh greenery surrounding Ancaster Mill.

Rawle got ready separately at the venue with his wedding party. His navy tuxedo, black bow tie and white boutonniere created a timeless look, while the atmosphere with his friends remained relaxed and full of laughter.

A Heartwarming First Look

Miffy and Rawle met for their first look near one of Ancaster Mill’s historic stone buildings.

After a busy morning spent apart and surrounded by other people, they finally had a few minutes that belonged only to them.

Their reactions were wonderfully natural. There was no need to manufacture the moment: the expressions, the hug afterwards and the way they immediately relaxed around each other told the story on their own.

We used the time immediately after the first look for portraits with their wedding party and a few photographs of Miffy and Rawle together. The pastel dresses, dark suits, spring greenery and stone architecture gave this part of the gallery a bright, elegant and timeless feel.

The Chinese Tea Ceremony

One of the most meaningful parts of Miffy and Rawle’s wedding was their traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

They changed from their Western wedding attire into beautiful red and gold traditional outfits, completely transforming the visual atmosphere of the day.

Family gathered around them as Miffy and Rawle served tea, received blessings and shared a series of intimate moments with the people closest to them. Red decorations and the Double Happiness symbol framed a ceremony filled with laughter, hugs and emotion.

What stands out most in these photographs is not only the tradition itself, but the relationships surrounding it. Parents and relatives were completely present in the moment, and you could feel how important this part of the wedding was to everyone in the room.

These are the photographs that become even more meaningful with time because they preserve not only what happened, but who was there to experience it.

Wedding Ceremony at Ancaster Mill Chapel

After changing back into their wedding attire, Miffy and Rawle gathered with their guests for the ceremony at Ancaster Mill Chapel.

The chapel is one of my favourite ceremony spaces at the venue. The large windows bring in beautiful natural light, while the timber beams, chandeliers and stone fireplace give the room warmth and character.

Miffy entered the ceremony surrounded by people she loves before walking toward Rawle.

Their ceremony was sweet, emotional and relaxed. There were plenty of smiles between them, reactions from their families, laughter from the guests and all the little glances that often become some of the most meaningful photographs in a wedding gallery.

Miffy and Rawle kiss in the chapel aisle as guests applaud after their wedding ceremony.

The chapel also allows the ceremony to be photographed from several perspectives, from wide architectural images showing the entire room to much closer photographs focused completely on the couple.

Family Photos, a Full Guest Portrait and Petal Toss

Immediately after the ceremony, we photographed Miffy and Rawle with all of their guests together.

For a wedding of around 95 people, doing this immediately after the ceremony was the perfect choice. Everyone was still gathered in one place, which allowed us to create the photograph before guests dispersed for cocktail hour.

Miffy and Rawle exit the chapel hand in hand as guests clap and toss petals outside Ancaster Mill.

We then stayed inside for family photographs.

Miffy and Rawle had prepared a detailed family photo list in advance, which made it possible to work through many different combinations efficiently while everyone was nearby.

Once the formal family photographs were finished, everyone moved outside for one of the happiest sequences of the afternoon: a petal toss.

Miffy and Rawle walked through their guests as petals filled the air around them. The photographs are full of movement, laughter and genuine reactions, and they became one of my favourite parts of the gallery.

Ancaster Mill Wedding Photography Around the Grounds

One of the strongest advantages of Ancaster Mill wedding photography is the variety of portrait locations available without needing to leave the venue.

Miffy and Rawle’s portraits move naturally between historic stone architecture, wooded paths, gardens, the bridge and the waterfall.

We kept the session relaxed rather than turning it into a long posed photoshoot. Some photographs are more carefully composed, while others simply show the two of them walking, talking, laughing or enjoying a quiet moment away from the crowd.

The bridge gave us beautiful symmetrical compositions surrounded by greenery, while the waterfall created an entirely different atmosphere only a short distance away.

That variety is one of the reasons Ancaster Mill wedding photography works particularly well for couples who want a diverse gallery but do not want to spend a large portion of their wedding day travelling between separate portrait locations.

Reception at Ancaster Mill

The reception brought everyone together again for dinner, speeches and celebration.

Soft pink and white floral arrangements continued the colour palette from earlier in the day, while the large windows kept the reception room bright through much of the evening.

Friends and family shared stories about Miffy and Rawle, and some of the most memorable photographs came from the reactions around the room.

Guests seated at round tables in a windowed reception room with timber beams and candles in the foreground.

A wedding speech is never only about the person holding the microphone. Parents look across the room, friends laugh at stories they already know, someone becomes emotional at the next table, and the couple quietly reacts to hearing themselves described by the people who know them best.

Bride and groom enter their reception holding hands as guests applaud beside a bar and chandeliers.

Those small reactions are an important part of telling the complete story of a reception.

Miffy and Rawle also created a champagne tower together before moving into the evening events.

First Dance and Parent Dances

Their first dance was playful, energetic and unmistakably them.

Miffy and Rawle had shared a preview of their choreography before the wedding, which made it possible to anticipate some of the movement and photograph the dance as a complete sequence rather than simply capturing it from one position.

The photographs show not only the choreography, but their expressions throughout it.

Parent dances followed, bringing another emotional change of pace before the reception moved into one of the most energetic traditions of the evening.

An Incredible Lion Dance

The lion dance was one of the highlights of the entire wedding.

Every time I have the opportunity to photograph this tradition, I love how quickly the atmosphere in the room changes. There is colour, movement and energy everywhere, and guests of every age become completely involved in what is happening.

At Miffy and Rawle’s reception, the performers moved throughout the room and interacted directly with the couple and their guests.

The result is one of the most vibrant sections of their gallery, filled with movement, reactions and brilliant colour.

A Dance Floor Full of Energy

After the formal events ended, the reception turned into a proper party.

The visual style of the photographs changes with it.

A joyful group of people dancing energetically at a lively indoor event, capturing a festive atmosphere with vibrant lighting and smiling faces.

The soft natural light of the ceremony and afternoon gives way to flash, movement, dancing and spontaneous expressions. Friends gathered together on the dance floor, family members joined in and Miffy and Rawle were right in the middle of everything.

I never want this part of a wedding gallery to feel overly polished or controlled. The goal is for the photographs to feel like the party itself: energetic, unpredictable and fun.

Those imperfect, spontaneous moments are often exactly the photographs that bring people back to how the evening actually felt.

Desserts, S’mores and the End of the Night

Later in the evening, guests enjoyed a beautiful dessert station prepared by one of Miffy’s friends.

After hours of preparations, ceremonies, speeches and dancing, the final part of the evening became quieter again.

A couple roasting marshmallows over an outdoor stone fireplace at night, surrounded by lush greenery and illuminated by soft lighting.

Miffy and Rawle stepped outside to the fire pit and made s’mores together under the night sky.

I love that their gallery finishes this way.

The wedding had been full of people, traditions, colour and celebration, yet the final photographs return to the two of them simply spending time together.

Miffy and Rawle, Thank You

Miffy and Rawle, thank you for trusting me to photograph such an important part of your story.

I hope this gallery brings you back not only to how everything looked, but to everything happening around you: your families watching you, your friends helping you get ready, the emotion of the tea ceremony, the quiet moments together, the laughter during speeches and the energy of the dance floor.

Thank you for allowing me to preserve all of it for you.
