Engagement Session at the RC Harris Water Treatment

Some places seem made for photographs, and R.C. Harris is one of them. Elanya and Matthew chose this location for its beautiful view of Lake Ontario, but there is so much more here: monumental stone architecture, incredible doors and windows, open green hills, the shoreline, and light that seems to change around every corner.

What made this engagement session truly special, though, was Elanya and Matthew themselves. They are wonderfully easygoing together, and photographing them never felt like posing for photographs. We walked, talked, joked, explored the grounds, and simply let the evening unfold. Their affection for each other is quiet and natural — in the way they hold hands, look at each other, laugh together, and immediately relax when they are close.

From R.C. Harris Architecture to the Lake Ontario Shoreline

We started among the beautiful architectural lines of R.C. Harris, using its stone walls, enormous windows and distinctive dark doors as a backdrop. As the light became softer, we moved toward the grassy slopes and Lake Ontario, eventually finishing the session right beside the water.

Those final photographs by the beach became some of our favourites. The wind, movement and warm evening light gave the photographs an effortless feeling — Matthew picking Elanya up by the water, the two of them laughing together, sitting on the rocks, and simply enjoying a summer evening by the lake. Even the smallest moments, from their intertwined hands to Elanya’s engagement ring catching the light, became part of their story.

Elanya and Matthew, thank you for such an easy, joyful evening. We loved photographing this chapter of your story, and we already cannot wait to capture your wedding next year.
