A Rain-Kissed October Celebration in Ontario

Some weddings are grand.
Some are loud.
And some — like Anna and Sergey’s — are deeply personal, intimate, and unforgettable.

On a soft, misty October day at Angus Glen Golf Club, surrounded by rolling green fairways and warm autumn tones, Anna and Sergey celebrated their love with a small circle of their closest family and friends. It was the kind of wedding where every hug mattered, every glance was meaningful, and every moment felt real.

A Quiet, Emotional Morning

We began the day with separate portraits.

Sergey, dressed in a classic black tuxedo with a white boutonnière, stood confidently along the elegant exterior of the clubhouse. The overcast sky softened the light perfectly, creating timeless, cinematic portraits with the architecture and golf course stretching behind him.

Inside, Anna prepared for the day surrounded by her closest women. Her off-the-shoulder gown, structured yet soft, flowed beautifully as she moved. Her veil — delicate and detailed — framed her face in the most graceful way. Her bouquet of white florals added to the refined, elegant aesthetic of the entire day.

There was calm.
There was anticipation.
There was quiet excitement.

First Look on the Golf Course

Their first look happened on the open greens.

With endless fairways behind them and gentle October wind lifting Anna’s veil, Sergey turned around and saw his bride for the first time. That moment — the smile, the emotion, the relief — set the tone for the rest of the day.

The rain had been gently falling throughout the day, but during their portrait session, it paused — almost as if the weather wanted to give them this space.

The soft sky created a dreamy, editorial look. The kind of light photographers hope for.

An Outdoor Ceremony in the Rain

Although the drizzle returned lightly during the ceremony, Anna and Sergey chose to trust the moment and keep it outdoors.

It was absolutely worth it.

Under a beautifully draped neutral-toned arch decorated with white florals, they exchanged vows with the rolling golf course behind them. Guests wrapped themselves in coats and warmth, watching closely, smiling, some holding back tears.

There is something incredibly romantic about a rain-kissed ceremony.
It slows time.
It softens the world.
It makes everything feel intimate.

Private Vows on the Fairway

After cocktail hour, while guests were invited inside for dinner, we stepped out once more onto the open field — just the two of them.

There, alone on the vast green landscape, Anna and Sergey exchanged personal vows in complete privacy. No audience. No microphones. Just wind, open space, and two people promising forever.

These are the moments that often become the most treasured.

Reception: A Family Celebration Full of Heart

The reception felt like the most beautiful family dinner you could imagine — elegant but warm.

Long tables dressed in white linens and soft green floral accents created a refined yet cozy atmosphere. Candlelight reflected in glassware. Laughter filled the room.

Highlights of the evening included:

  • Emotional speeches from family
  • Video congratulations from loved ones who couldn’t attend
  • A joyful cake cutting
  • Playful moments led by the MC
  • Champagne toasts and heartfelt embraces
  • Guests signing the wedding book
  • Live musical elements during the celebration

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere shifted from tender to vibrant.

First Dance in the Clouds

Anna and Sergey’s first dance took place in a room filled with low-lying fog — creating the illusion that they were dancing on clouds.

Soft light.
Floating fabric.
Slow movement.

The dance floor later transformed into a celebration — friends dancing, laughter echoing, hands raised, music filling the night.

Outside, Angus Glen glowed beautifully under the dark sky.

Why Small Weddings Feel Different

Anna and Sergey’s wedding is a perfect example of why intimate weddings hold such power.

With a smaller guest list:

  • conversations are deeper
  • emotions are more visible
  • time slows down
  • photography becomes more documentary and natural

For this celebration, we worked as a two-person team:

Alexandra Nadtochiy – Lead Photographer
Vlad Nadtochiy – Lead Videographer

For smaller weddings, having one dedicated photographer and one dedicated videographer allows us to stay unobtrusive, move quietly, and document real moments without overwhelming the space.

The result is honest, emotional storytelling — exactly what this day deserved.

Before their Angus Glen Golf Club Wedding day, Anna and Sergey also trusted us with their engagement photoshoot in Toronto. That session became a beautiful prelude to their Intimate Wedding story and helped them feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera long before the October Wedding.

Their engagement gallery was photographed at the iconic RC Harris Water Treatment Plant, one of the most elegant architectural locations for Toronto Engagement Photography. If you want to see that chapter of their story, you can view it here.
