Sun on the water, wind in the hair, sand under bare feet — Sidney & Tyler wanted a casual, date-like session that felt easy and real. Scarborough Bluffs gave us everything we hoped for: glowing backlight, playful waves, and those cinematic cliffs for a clean, airy look. We wandered the shoreline, chased gulls, and laughed our way through golden hour — exactly how a couples session should feel: the two of you, your story, your memories.

Why Scarborough Bluffs works so well for couples
- Variety in one stop. Soft beach, dramatic white cliffs, tree canopies, rock jetties — all within a short walk.
- Dreamy light. The west-facing shoreline is perfect for golden hour; the water bounces light for a bright, romantic feel.
- Clean, timeless palette. Neutrals (denim, white tees) look effortless here and keep the focus on connection.
Session highlights
- Gentle backlit portraits along the waterline
- Playful movement — piggyback rides, hand-in-hand runs with gulls in the sky
- Framed moments under willow branches and along the rocks
- Candid laughs and quiet hugs as the sun dropped behind the cliffs
Planning your Scarborough Bluffs photoshoot (practical tips)
Best time & day (crowds + light)
- Golden hour (about 2 hours before sunset) is most flattering and gives us that luminous, film-like glow.
- Weekdays (Mon–Thu) keep crowds low. Summer weekends can be busy; arrive earlier if you choose one.
- City policy: The City of Toronto requires a permit for formal photography (weddings, engagements, etc.) in City parks. Booking is handled through Parks, Forestry & Recreation (via 311/Client Services).
Parking & meeting spot
- Park at Bluffer’s Park lots and plan a 5–10 minute walk to the beach. On warm evenings lots fill quickly — arrive 15–20 minutes early.
Clothing & styling
- Keep it simple: light neutrals, denim, soft textures.
- Bring layers: the lake breeze can pick up.
- Shoes: sandals/sneakers you can slip off; avoid tall heels in sand.
- Hair kit: brush/comb + small hair clamp for windy moments.
Safety & comfort
- Stay behind any fencing near cliff edges and follow posted signage.
- Pack water, bug spray in summer, and a small towel if you want to dip your toes.
Backup plan
- If the forecast turns, we’ll reschedule or pivot to a nearby covered spot — your experience (and light) come first.

If you’re new here
If this Scarborough Bluffs session is exactly your kind of vibe — sunshine on the water, wind, bare feet in the sand, and photos that feel like a real date — you’ll probably love Courtney & Helder’s Golden Hour Engagement at R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant. It’s still Lake Ontario energy, but with a more architectural backdrop and that same effortless, honest connection.
