On July 18, 2025, we had the honour of photographing Alisha and Zeeshan’s civil ceremony at Alisha’s family home in Toronto. While their big wedding celebration will take place in Portugal, this intimate backyard ceremony in Ontario was deeply meaningful. Surrounded by close family members, the couple exchanged vows in a peaceful garden setting — a quiet moment of joy before the grand destination wedding to come.
The ceremony took place in the family’s beautiful backyard in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), featuring a serene poolside setting with manicured gardens and elegant floral arrangements. Alisha wore a stunning off-the-shoulder white gown, and Zeeshan looked sharp in a navy suit — both effortlessly stylish in a setting that blended comfort, warmth, and sophistication. The intimacy of the occasion allowed for real moments, quiet laughter, and tearful embraces — the kind of moments we live to capture as Toronto wedding photographers.
After the ceremony, we took relaxed portraits of the couple with their family and friends throughout the home and garden. From candid hugs to soft natural light portraits under the trees, the images reflect the beauty of a day focused purely on love and connection. These are the kinds of sessions where our documentary style and passion for storytelling truly shine.

Alisha and Zeeshan’s story beautifully reflects a growing trend we see among couples in Ontario: choosing to have a legal ceremony at home, followed by a destination celebration with extended friends and family. It’s the perfect way to honour loved ones locally while still enjoying a dream wedding abroad.
If you’re curious what a destination wedding can look like, take a peek at one of our favorites from Montenegro: Doyinsola & Michael’s Wedding.
If you’re reading Alisha & Zeeshan’s backyard ceremony because you’re considering something intentionally small — a legal ceremony at home, surrounded by your closest people, with the bigger celebration saved for later — take one more step and look at Toronto City Hall Wedding — Sophie & Trevor. Different setting, same kind of meaning: a day that’s simple on purpose, where the emotion is the main event and everything feels real.
If you’d like to see more complete wedding stories told with the same warm, cohesive documentary flow, browse our Wedding galleries — it’s the easiest way to compare venues, pacing, and the overall feel of different days.
